  • Independent Natalie

This is my previous team teacher's son Zachary. They had a great time!

She didn't mind the sand obviously!

Learning to finally look at the camera and say 'cheese!'

Chasing birds. This made up a lot of their time!

Natalie loved digging and using the shovel.

"Natalie! Why are you way down there? We're all up here!" - Zach

  • Here are the pictures from Natalie's 12 month photo shoot that we didn't choose...
She is getting quite the personality and we love her more and more every day!

She's excited to make the trip home to Indiana. We've been trying to teach her cow, pig, and horse since she'll be seeing those animals. I know she'll be excited to see Sammie and play with her. She loves animals and CoCo is her favorite so far.

I finally caved and read Twilight. I really loved it..... I don't know why I was surprised. So many people raved about it - I guess millions can't be wrong. haha Well yes they can... but they weren't about this one. I couldn't put it down. Then I bought the movie.

Brad and I are still trying to sell the Grand Am. We've had a few hits, but no buyer yet!

We are counting down the days till the end of school. This has been an amazing year. The kind of year that makes me say, "I'll do this for the rest of my life. Thank you!"

  • Today in class:

"Mrs. Sevier, how do I get on microscopic word again?" (microSOFT word)

The children played Oregon Trail at recess and one particular student got pretty creative with his game. Here's the conversation:
"Mrs. Sevier, do you know what Ben is doing on the game?"
    "No, what?"
"He refused to buy any clothes or ammunition. He bought one oxen and 40 pounds of food." (the game recommends you buy 200 pounds per person)
The student who did this: "I can get along just fine without extra clothes or ammunition. I have a lot of money though!"
I said, "But Ben, money isn't going to do you any good on the trail if you run out of food. And how in the world are you pulling your wagon with one oxen?"
"Oooohhhhh... we're moving along just fine."
    "What if he gets sick?"
    "Then we'll have food!"

"What are you going to do when winter comes and you don't have extra clothes?"
"We'll trade at a fort or make clothes from animal skins." hmmmm
"How are you going to hunt?"
    "With a knife."
"The game doesn't allow you to hunt with a knife. You need ammunition."
"In real life you could hunt with a knife."

"What does your health say currently?"
    "Poor."
    "Aren't you worried?"
    "Ooohhhh.... we'll be fine!"

    (They all died shortly after)

Natalie is getting over a spell of pink eye! It's NEVER ENDING what she picks up. I caught it right away thankfully and took her the instant her eyes got goopy.
She is getting into everything now and I mean everything. Today I stopped her from putting her finger on the cats bottomhole. I also have found her unwinding the toliet paper from the toliet paper roll, crawling under our bed, and pulling out food from the fridge (I had left it cracked). She is standing now unassisted for long lengths of time, but she won't put that foot forward and walk unless her hand is holding something.
She tries to say kitty kitty kitty and she attempts to quack like a duck.

I can't believe she turns one on Saturday!! It's so crazy crazy crazy how fast time flies.

Today she ate asparagus, corn, carrots, orange slices, and cheese. She's almost fully switched over to whole milk.

  • We just had two great weeks of visitors! Highlights:

    - Playing "Sorry" at Angi's Subs. Making it a rule that you had to say sorry and mean it.
    - Going to Universal for (almost) free
    - Going to Fernindina Beach to the Farmer's Market
    - Playing Taboo and Scattegories
    - Reading on the beach
    - Cooking varies meals.... both of my women guests made the best meals of the week. How are the going to come up into MY house and outcook me!?
    - Beach Hut
    - Laser Tag and Deal or No Deal at Adventure Landing - winning over 1,000 tickets and only getting a cheap kite. haha

Brad and I are getting ready to go to Orlando, yet again, with Dave and Mary this weekend. Not sure what we'll do yet, but we're staying in a nice resort. Maybe just laying by the pool, ordering Mi Ti's (sp?), reading, and playing the kiddos. Then on Monday my roommate from college is coming, then my grandparents are stopping by on their way back to IN, then Brad's mom (HI! Since you're the only person who reads this) comes and I'm excited because we're going to go back to Fernindina. It's one of my favorite places. I like it tons more than St. Augustine now.

It's the last day we have kids - tomorrow is a planning day. I'm excited to have a little break from them. :) We have a lot planned for spring, so it makes coming back in a week and half seem not so bad. We're going to do a massive egg hunt, we're going on three field trips, and I've got some fun writing activities planned.

Yesterday a child corrected me during my phonics lesson. I was teaching about when to drop a y and add an i. We were dealing with words that ended in y that you add -es and -ed to. Jhett chimmed in, respectfully, "Mrs. Sevier you don't drop the y with you're adding -ing." I said, "Yes you do Jhett." He said, "No, you don't. Watch." And he proceeded to write a TON of words that end with y. When we added -ing to them, of course, you don't drop the y. So I then taught the kids a quick lesson in humility and how you can learn things from ANYONE no matter how old you are. hahahah

  • Well we are getting ready to drive Sabrina and Andrew to the airport. We had an awesome week and they had PERFECT weather. I'm always glad when someone comes to visit and the weather corporates. They went to the beach every day with Natalie while we were at school. We just bring the pack-n-play to the beach and a big umbrella and Natalie plays in there. Sabrina said one day she played for about an hour, then took a two hour nap. It makes it nice for them because they can read and play in the sand and stuff. We also went to one of our favorite mom and pop restaurants down here called Angi's Subs and we played a game of Sorry as we ate. We went and played putt-putt, went to Universal Studios and rode roller coasters, had a cookout at Dave and Mary's, went to Fernandina Beach to the farmer's market, and had breakfast at Where ya Bean? It was also really nice to take Natalie out of daycare for a week. Her runny nose cleared up and she is 100% healthy as of today. So that makes me feel good. It's probably the longest stretch of 'healthiness' she's had since January.

Kara and John are coming next and we're excited to see them and spend time with them! We are planning on going back to Angi's Subs on Thursday night because they are having a Sorry tournament where all the proceeds go to March of Dimes. IF Kara and John want to go... :) We're also thinking about taking the ferry over to Amelia Island OR visiting St. Augustine.

Then Katelyn comes, then my grandparents, then Linda!!!!

    I love this month! :) :) :)
